Benefit from a single interface for performance monitoring

Analyse and view data, set alert parameters, and access remote monitoring all in one place.

Achieve better results through precision performance

Predict and optimise the performance of a physical system by using technology to analyse real-time data from various sources and simulate operational configurations virtually.

Stay in control with a full oversight of operations

See the state of equipment and processes in a user-friendly virtual environment, and use these insights to take actions that can maximise performance and improve efficiency.

Respond to critical issues faster

Identify patterns and trends in performance data, and set parameters for alert systems when performance metrics fall outside of specified ranges. Rapid response for less distress.

Boost the performance of vessels and assets.

Production optimisation

Optimise assets and grids for maximum energy utility. For grids, this means achieving operations closer to actual load flow limits. For assets, this means more output while reducing energy consumption. Small changes can lead to big improvements.

Vessel and fleet optimisation

Apply both onshore and onboard adjustments to optimise operations for individual vessels and entire fleets. Access vessel-to-vessel comparisons, fleet overviews, and performance status overviews. Leverage voyage reports to stay successful at sea.

Technical surveillance

Define operational envelopes — then monitor performance and monitor deviations from specified limits to identify issues as early as possible. Eliminate threats with minimal risk to process safety and reliability.

Fuel and energy efficiency

Reduce your fleet’s fuel and energy consumption to lower operational costs and bring down emissions. Make the best decisions for voyages with features like emissions monitoring, trim optimisation, weather resistance indications, and more.

Power and propulsion management

Get real-time updates on power and propulsion performance, and make adjustments for optimal operation. Localise faults in engine performance, monitor machinery, and use fault diagnostics to manage performance in the smartest way possible.

MEG optimisation

Make room for more gas in the production line by optimising dosage valve positions and MEG injection rates. Not too much. Not too little. Just right. Run what-if scenarios and reduce manual calculations for effective hydrate prevention.

As the months have flown by, we’ve already reached the halfway mark of 2023. We continue to grow and have consolidated our position as an industrial software frontrunner, serving some of the world’s largest energy- and maritime companies. We are changing the way business design, operate and maintain their assets. The last half-year has offered essential business opportunities, exciting collaborations, and diverse events.
Let’s look closer at the first half of 2023 as we fully embrace the summer.

Shaping the future of work

2023 started with a mission and a bang as we initiated the launch of The Industrial Work Surface, which is set to shape the future of work (our new vision!). At the core, it will put humans back in the center of technology while reducing the complexity of systems. The Industrial Work Surface allows you to plan, design, operate, and maintain your assets throughout their lifecycle. Streamlining your daily work, intuitive at any level and enabling carbon-intensive industries to gain real value from digitisation.

We are developing the Industrial Work Surface to ensure a digital solution that any business can implement at any stage of its digital maturity. Predictive maintenance, carbon emissions information, ESG reporting, and technology to balance grids and complex power systems are some features carbon-intensive companies can access and scale within this single end-to-end user surface.

Investment to fuel further growth

Let’s continue with a significant milestone: Shell Ventures and Idékapital will invest USD 90 million in Kongsberg Digital, fueling our ambitions to become a global leader in technology and digital solutions for heavy assets industries. The investment values Kongsberg Digital at USD 540 million post-money.

This investment is a testimony to our mission to enable smarter, safer, and greener operations across industries and at an even grander scale. It will strengthen our position in driving positive change in heavy asset industries.

Recognitions and new agreements

Signing new agreements opened doors to fresh opportunities and expanded the reach of Kongsberg Digital. We signed a multi-year deal with Chevron in early January to digitalise their global assets using Kongsberg Digital’s digital twin technology. The contract represents expansions of work performed on contracts signed in 2021, with a committed multiple-asset deployment plan and further applications to enrich Chevron’s user experiences.

Two months later, we announced signing a five-year agreement with Shell Global Solutions International to digitalise their global assets using our Digital Twin Technology.

In other words, 2023 got off to a busy start. The winter months flew by, collaborating with existing customers, fostering strong relationships, and exchanging valuable insights. Our products and services have also gained several marks of quality.

In early May, Kongsberg Digital’s cloud-based infrastructure Vessel Insight was awarded the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) smart data infrastructure and cyber safety product design assessment. This is the first time ABS has awarded this combination of endorsements to a single product, and it is a quality seal and acknowledgment we are very proud of.

More updates from the Maritime sector

The interest in our cloud-based technology has spiked this year and is used worldwide, and we are strongly dedicated to developing our existing products to ensure better customer value. We relaunched Vessel Performance for offshore vessel operations and launched a new cloud-based navigation simulation solution.

  • We joined forces to reduce emissions with Vale this spring. Vale, iron ore producer and charterer of one of the world’s largest fleets of ore carriers, signed to install our Saas-based solution Vessel Insight on four Valemax vessels. Vessel Insight provides vessel-to-cloud data infrastructure that captures and aggregates quality industrial data.
  • Just a few weeks ago, Odfjell Ship Management started using a digital logbook system from Kongsberg Digital to ensure the digitalisation of their fleet.
  • The Antwerp Maritime Academy took a big step toward a brighter, smarter, more sustainable future when we delivered the first CESNI-compliant training simulator to the Academy. They also got approval from The International Department of Transportation to use Kongsberg Digital’s cloud-based solution, K-sim Connect, on their IGF Code courses.

A half year full of events

We strongly believe that partnerships fuel our growth and that we can achieve more together.

Over the past six months, we have actively participated in numerous global events, including OTC, Nor-Shipping, Kongsberg Agenda, and Future Oil & Gas – to mention a few. These events are arenas of great importance where we connect, share knowledge, and gain insights.

Our own From Sea to Cloud tour has succeeded both in Rio and Athens, gathering industry experts to discuss the latest updates in maritime digitalization and share ideas on enabling safer, more efficient, and more sustainable ship operations.

Strong turnout for this year’s Nor-Shipping

We would also like to highlight this year’s Nor-Shipping, where we had our first standalone stand, full of activities. The stand activities ended with inclusion drinks, to celebrate diversity and Kongsberg Digital’s signing of the bold 40by30 Pledge, targeting 40% female representation in leadership by 2030.

The week of Nor-Shipping we partnered with StormGeo to drive innovation in maritime performance applications. As the first step, StormGeo’s Performance Application will be available to maritime customers together with Kongsberg Digital’s Vessel Insight Vessel to Cloud data infrastructure. Another highlight from Nor-Shipping was the nomination of Vessel Insight for this year’s Ocean Solution Award. The nomination proved that we are transforming challenges into solutions.

What’s to come?

There will be numerous exciting events this autumn, where kicking off the Tomorrowshow in Houston in October is one big highlight! At the Tomorrowshow, you can dive into more than 30 sessions featuring industry experts sharing the latest innovations, fresh perspectives, and success stories that will inspire you. Make sure to register to attend this happening.

The first part of 2023 is behind us. Autumn is on the horizon, and we’re getting ready for an exciting ride. But first, we wish everyone a fantastic summer ahead. Thank you to all our valued customers and partners for an exciting year so far.
